My Halloween Costume Ideas For 2017

The spooky season is upon us! I adore this time of year ( I think I may have mentioned that already but I'm not sure) and I love love LOVE Halloween. I mean ok, it's not quite as exciting as it was when I was a kid but it's still a lot of fun. This year, for the first time in a few years, it looks like I'm actually going to be going to a Halloween party! My costumes have always been a bit rubbish when it comes to fancy dress, I've always been in the habit of leaving my final decision until the last minute and grabbing a bunch of clothes out of my wardrobe and making something of it.  This year I am determined to be more prepared and I actually have a few ideas in mind.

DARIA MORGENDORFFER (from the TV show "Daria")

Alright, ok, this probably does come under the category of me grabbing something out of my wardrobe and calling it an outfit because... well... y'know...

It speaks for itself.

Still, I was and still am a fan of Daria, most of my friends who are familiar with the show often call me a living and breathing Daria (I can never decide if I like that or not) so it'd be more or less me taking the piss out of myself, in a good way. I would just need to cut the fringe back into my hair and maybe treat myself to a new pair of Doc Martens or something.

HELENA (From the My Chemical Romance video for "Helena")

Screenshot from the video "Helena"

My Chemical Romance were one of my favourite bands in my teens (I'm still partial to them now) and I have wanted to do the Helena fancy dress for about ten years, I've just never done it (see aforementioned ill-planning blah blah). You can't get this as a costume in itself, so I looked into buying various clothes to make it up and I think it'd be relatively inexpensive to put together, although I would probably have to experiment and alter some pieces to make the outfit look more like the one in the video. It would be totally worth it though.

MAGENTA (From "The Rocky Horror Picture Show")

I wanted to dress as Magenta last year but I ended up without Halloween plans, le sad. I'm still partial to this idea though, I loved Patricia Quinn as Magenta in the film. The reason I'm so drawn to this as a costume, I think, is because of the make up, a smokey eye/red lip combo is right up my alley. Also, the costume is quite readily available at most costume places, so it wouldn't take much effort to put together. You can't go wrong with a bit of Rocky Horror cosplay.

Would you dress as any of these options? What ideas do you have for Halloween?
