June Favourites 2017

Hello, apologies for the lateness of this post, I realise we're almost a week into July already! Life hasn't slowed down any for me, I feel like I'm constantly on the go and that I'm being kept on my toes. Without further ado, here are my favourite things from June 2017.

Firstly, I went to see Wonder Woman at the cinema and it was brilliant. Gal Gadot was perfect in the title role, the story was told really well and I loved the aesthetics. I'm not a massive comic book nerd, so I think anything in the film that may have irritated other people probably went straight over my head. I really enjoyed the film from start to finish, and I'm intrigued now to see how big of a part Wonder Woman plays in the upcoming Justice League films.

Season 9 of RuPaul's Drag Race came to its conclusion in June and I was so made up that Sasha Velour won!

I LOVE a quirky drag queen and some of her looks this season have been absolutely stunning. I so admire the artistry that went into her work in all of the challenges and her Marlene Dietrich impersonation on Snatch Game was probably my favourite, I much prefer it when a queen opts to act as a celebrity who isn't necessarily current or well known. Some viewers out there might be getting an education, and education is important!

My last favourite for June was the Netflix series Glow, which is based on the story of the all-women's wrestling TV show G.L.O.W (i.e, Glamorous Ladies Of Wrestling) which aired in the 1980's.

The attention to detail where the wrestling was concerned was excellent, and I'll admit as a wrestling fan I popped for some of the cameos (Carlito's in particular I was not expecting). The non-wrestling based storylines were also great. I was not expecting them to make Ruth, who is for all intents and purposes the main character in this show, a whiny, imperfect woman,  and I think that's why I like the show so much. It's very much an ensemble cast, where each character is very human and it makes everything feel so much more real and relatable. And as a female wrestler, let me tell you - some of the struggles that those girls go through on that show are SO damn relatable, sometimes it hurts to watch.

So yeah, all of my favourites last month were screen based, which tell you a lot about how June went for me... but I have a very busy July about to happen, a few more social things planned so hopefully come next month's favourites post I'll have something a lot more interesting to talk about!

Until next time,
